Tips for at work

  • Walk or ride your bike to and from work.
  • For longer distances, you can combine walking and taking the train.
  • Find out whether your employer offers compensation for walking or cycling for your home-to-work commute.
  • Park your car further away so that you’ll have to walk further.
  • Take the stairs instead of the lift whenever possible.
  • Regularly take an active break. Stretch your arms, legs, neck and shoulders. This will give your back and eyes a chance to relax.
  • Keep the printer just outside your office. This is good for the air quality and ensures you’ll click up an extra few steps of walking.
  • Walk around while you’re making calls on your mobile phone or wireless device.
  • Go to see a colleague instead of just telephoning or emailing them.
  • Walk while you discuss issues; even meetings are possible while you’re walking!
  • Go for a walk with your colleagues during your lunch breaks.
  • Bring active wear to work. This way, you’ll be ready to exercise at any unexpected moment.
  • Ask your employer to install a shower.
